As
a Registered Home Inspector (RHI) I have been inspecting homes
and commercial properties for 18 years across the GTA and
Ontario.
Here is some important information for a home owner to consider
when buying or selling your home.
What is a Home
Inspection?
In the excitement, it’s easy to overlook
major deficiencies in a home.
A home inspector will inspect the structure and its major
systems, and
give you a professional opinion of its condition.
Who Does The
Inspection?
Many people know about
some house systems. Few have the broad knowledge, experience
and skills of a professional home inspector. Even if you do
know about all aspects of houses, it's probably best to have
someone else do the inspection. As a home inspector won't
be emotionally attached to the home.
What
Gets Inspected?
A home inspection includes the following:
Structure -
Plumbing System - Exterior -
Air Condtioning or Heat Pump -
Roofing, Flashing & Chimneys -
Insulation - Electrical System
- Interior -
Heating Systems - Basements
What Does Not
Get Inspected?
A home inspection is
designed to help you make a buying decision. As a result,
the home inspector won't be looking at minor details like
worn wallpaper or scratches in the floors.
A standard home inspection
does not include appliances. Low Voltage systems such as telephone
wiring, cable television and alarm systems are generally not
inspected.
