Noreen and Gaeten Frank have been in the kitchen business for more than 20 years. As a custom cabinet maker, Gaetan took great pride in the quality of his work. In early 2000 the Franks were approached by a Brazilian Soapstone supplier about adding their product to the Frank’s line of countertops. Other retailers who sold granite didn’t seem interested, but the Franks did some research and decided to move forward in a new direction. For Gaetan, making custom cabinetry was becoming a source of frustration with cheaper, mass-produced alternatives.

An extensive learning curve followed as they researched equipment and tried different techniques for fabrication. In addition to acquiring more knowledge to produce the finest product, they realized it was necessary to educate the consumer. Noreen’s marketing background provided her with the expertise to initiate an aggressive advertising campaign. During the SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) epidemic that hit Toronto in 2003, a subsequent newspaper article about a study of bacteria on countertops by Canadian public health officials, touted soapstone as one of the best options. This validation, along with Noreen’s efforts proved to be successful.

In 2006, N&G moved their business to a new 10,000-square-foot facility in Stouffville, providing them with a professional showroom and proximity to the décor Mecca of Canada – Toronto. They are the largest soapstone counter top fabricators in Canada and will install or ship Canada wide

Much of their soapstone is sourced from Brazil, with the Franks making regular visits to the country to personally select the product. Ultimately, this hands-on service, along with nurturing ongoing relationships, has proved to be the key to their success.

Along with their Soapstone line they also fabricate other natural stone such as Granite, Marble and Vermont Slate, Solid Surfaces such as Corion and Staron, and Quartz Surfaces Silestone, HanStone, CaesarStone ,Zodiac
